Screening for Plagiarism Policy

J-SUSTAIN: Journal of Sustainable Business and Global Transition ensures that all submitted manuscripts are screened for originality prior to the peer review process. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical standards, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Similarity Screening

All submissions are checked using similarity detection software, such as Turnitin or equivalent tools, to identify potential overlap with existing literature.

2. Similarity Threshold

The journal applies a general similarity threshold of a maximum of 20%, with no single source exceeding 5%, excluding references, properly quoted text, and commonly used methodological terms.

3. Editorial Assessment

Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team. A high similarity score does not automatically indicate plagiarism; the context and nature of the overlap are carefully assessed.

4. Actions for Detected Similarity

If significant overlap or potential plagiarism is identified, the journal may take the following actions:

  • Reject the manuscript prior to peer review
  • Request revision and clarification from the authors
  • Reject the manuscript after review
  • Retract published articles in cases of confirmed misconduct

All cases are handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.

5. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original and properly cite all sources. Submission to the journal implies agreement with this policy.
